A comedian, Tano-Shingo, is also a popular chiropractor and you need to book months before your appointment. He charges relatively high price for his treatment. So is it, or is it not a rip off using his name as a comedian? A TV show, "Oh! Doya-gao summit" (TV Asahi) aired on May 27 investigated this issue.
Unlike anma deep pressure masseuse, there is no national certification for a chiropractor (however, there are some private certifications), and it is one of the reasons why it's a competitive market with various prices. Most places charge you 1,000 Yen for 10 min. On the other hand, Tano-Shingo charges 21,000 Yen for 45 min. so it is quite expensive. So is his treatment really worth the money?
The show asked Hideyuki Fukazawa, the owner of the clinic 'Route Vigor', to receive treatment from Tano-Shingo and evaluate it. Fukazawa has certifications as a acupuncture practitioner, and anma masseuse, and has many baseball players and athletes as his clients.
"I've never experienced anything like this. It felt so good!", says Fukazawa. He was impressed by Tano-Shingo's hand technique called 'Octopus Hands' which massages one's calves along the muscle line. His 'Angel Touch' which massages from one's legs to the back using his palms warms up your body temperature. Tano-Shingo's fingers moves as each of them isa separate creature.
Tano-Shingo ended his treatment with pouring sweats. Fukazawa rated his work with 96 points. "He is just incredible with many techniques", says Fukazawa. He also said another great thing about him is that you could enjoy conversation with Tano-Shingo. To sum up, it can be said that 21,000 Yen for 45 min. is not a rip off at least for his fans.
